Confirm the item is covered by your plan, note the cap, and check that you're past any waiting period.
Step 1: Check your contract
Step 2: File the claim
File online, in the company's app or by phone. Describe the problem clearly and include the make, model and age of the item if you know them. Most major companies accept claims around the clock.

Step 3: The technician visit
The company assigns a contractor, who contacts you to schedule. You pay the service call fee at the visit. The technician diagnoses the problem and reports to the warranty company, which decides coverage.
Step 4: Repair, replacement or cash-out
Covered items are repaired up to the cap, replaced if repair isn't practical, or the company may offer cash. If parts are on backorder, ask for a timeline in writing.
If your claim is denied
Ask for the reason and the contract clause in writing, provide maintenance records if relevant, and escalate to a supervisor. If you still disagree, you can file a complaint with your state's regulator or attorney general. Read why claims get denied to avoid common pitfalls.
